# Is it possible to use ceramic tiles outdoors?

Ceramic tiles are generally not suitable for outdoor use due to their porous nature, which allows them to absorb water. This absorption can lead to damage in freeze/thaw conditions as the water inside the tiles expands and contracts. For outdoor applications, porcelain tiles are a better choice because they are more durable and less susceptible to water and temperature fluctuations.
