Factors to Consider Before Tile Installation

Before starting your tile installation, ensure you have a clear discussion with your installer about the design and your expectations. Specify any special requirements in the contract, such as the scope of cleanup needed.

Make sure you have enough tiles to complete the project, as securing additional tiles of the same colour and shade later on might not be possible.

It's advisable to keep a small reserve of extra tiles on hand after the job is completed. Finding an exact match later for repairs can be challenging.

Be aware that shade variations are common in all kiln-fired clay products. The tiles you receive may slightly differ from the sample or display you saw in the showroom, which is a normal occurrence.

Plan to have your tiles delivered well in advance of installation. Verify the tone or shade markings on all tile cartons to ensure consistency across the batch. Open two or three cartons to check for the correct colour and acceptable shade variation. Not doing so may lead to disappointment, as installing the tiles means you accept them as they are.
